Igor Onishchenko

Baritone

Having recently completed his fourth and final full season as a member of the ensemble at the Wiener Staatsoper, baritone Igor Onishchenko studied at the National Nezhdanova Academy of Music in his hometown of Odessa, Ukraine,  and following this graduated from the Viennese Musik and Arts Private University as a Master of Arts. In Vienna, his roles have included Schaunard / La bohème, Bello / La fanciulla del West and Masetto / Don Giovanni, and his guest appearances have included Figaro / Le nozze di Figaro for Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile. Silvio / Pagliacci for the Ravenna Festival, and Figaro / Il Barbiere di Siviglia for the Israeli Opera. Igor was a semi-finalist at the 2015 Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition and quarter-finalist at Operalia in 2019.

Pagliacci at the Muti Academy

Following the closing of his final season as a member of the ensemble at the Wiener Staatsoper, Igor Onishchenko joins renowned conductor Riccardo Muti as part of his prestigious Italian Opera Academy in Ravenna, Italy. Igor sings the role of Silvio in selected pieces from Leoncavallo's Pagliacci, in a double bill gala performance alongside Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana.  

Concerts take place on 29 and 31 July 2020 at the Teatro Alighieri, with Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini conducted by Riccardo Muti and young musicians of the Academy. Public rehearsals will also take place between 19 - 27 July.
